Sisterhood Retreat 2009

I love Alpha Phi. One of the neat things we do is Sisterhood Retreat. I am not a fan of sleepovers- but this one is non- negotiable! I love my sisters. It is weird that this is my last one... Hurray for laughing, crying, talking, sharing, eating, singing, taking pictures, and bonding!
All of us!
Kailey, Kady, Shar and me!

It was so much fun- except on the way home I got sick. Sorry Shar. You know you have good sisters when they still want to help you after you got sick all over the front seat of their car. Love you.

Self-Portrait.

Who is this stranger on my blog?

This is Karl Baden- a photographer who has taken a self-portrait of himself every single day for the past 20 years. From what I understand, he takes the photograph every single morning when he wakes up. He does not use digital photograhphy, so if the camera messes up- he misses a day. I think this is a neat concept- think of the changes you would see in your appearance. Day by day they would be extremely subtle, but 5 years? 10 years? 15 years? My photography teacher told us that he sells them for $10- one for each day, which = $3,650 x 20 years = $73,000. My teacher bought one- I think the date on his is his wedding anniversary!

Cedar City.

Cedar City is a place that I have come to love. I am excited to leave- but Cedar City will hold a special place in my heart. One of the things I will miss are my beautiful surroundings. These pictures were taken for my landscape assignment- its hard to believe that each of these pictures are taken within just a few miles of one another.

I want to continue taking pictures of things such as the landscapes that surround me even when it is not for a grade! I want to remember to capture everything around me!

Portraits without context.

One of my assignments in photography was to take portraits of people without context. Taking pictures of people in front of a plain white wall is b.o.r.i.n.g and not exactly the most flattering. I racked my brain trying to think of something colorful but plain and did not look a thousand years old. I racked my brain... and La Fiesta is bright bubble gum pink! It was perfect.

My roommate is also in photography so I got my picture taken too!

Note to self: Try not to look so pouty.

Couldn't Resist

I went to the Smithfield Post Office- and could not resist getting out of the car and walking down their Main Street. The Smithfield Implement store is accented in bright blue- and is quite striking. (G'ma informed me this is a recent development) I am becoming a fan of small town Main Streets- I think they are really neat.

Also- how cute is this window display all decorated for St. Patricks Day?! I have never seen a hardware store with a window display like this!

Sunday Afternoon

I was lucky to be up in Logan when Darin and Elisa were visiting too! I love family. I think living away from family has helped me to realize how important it is to spend what time you do have with them!

Founders Day

I have had the opportunity to intern with the Alumni House this semester! It has been a lot of fun- I am involved in a lot of the events that the Alumni House plans. The most recent event was Founders Day. I was involved from the beginning to the very end- it was soo neat to watch it all come together! I am so glad that I love what I plan to make my future career!
The table prior to the salad!
Some of my responsibilities included:
Pulling pictures from the archives, compiling hundreds of pictures, reserving rooms and equipment, making telephone calls, picking things up, setting up, ordering hors'dourves, helping check people in, handing out name-tags, doing the lighting for the stage for the different presentations, etc.
It was a long day- and after it was all over I was tired but too wound up to do homework or sleep, so I went to the gym and ran a mile or two!

I Heart Cupcakes.

Cupcakes are all the rage these days. I have always loved cupcakes-they are just so cute, and small and usually adorably decorated. I went and got ice-cream at Maggy Moos the other day and saw this advertisement.

I love anything pink, and plus I love cupcakes- so these are right up my alley. Also I love the "Introduce them to your entourage"! These are some blingin' cupcakes.

Flashback...

Not to my past... but to my Moms!
I remember her telling me about how she would ride her bike to the Bookmobile (possibly with Cristin?!) I never saw one until this afternoon when I saw it parked on my street!

New York City.

I have not made a Tri-Fold board since my Senior year in High School- and before that I had not made one since 7th or 8th grade! I made one for my Tourism Class to go along with a big paper. I did this weird thing- I started working on it right at the beginning of the semester. I tried to collect a little information each day, and then I slowly started to piece it all together. I finished it one week before it was even due, including the board! It only took me until my Senior year of college to figure out the smart way to tackle assignments!
I have one more 10 page paper due next week, and one more due after Spring Break! I must be a graduating Senior in my second semester!!!

These red dots corelate with the ten main pictures in the center of the board.

Sorry for the not so great pictures- I was trying to hurry and take them before my professor collected them!

Happy Birthday Best Friend.

Elaine!!
I hope you have an absolutely FABULOUS birthday.
Despite spending most of the last 4 years apart, we have remained best friends! (And they said it wouldn't last... ha ha). At times it is hard having your best friend across the country- but I still feel like you are sometimes the only one who gets me.

This is the the picture of us after our first reunion (we had only been apart 1 1/2 months).

We look so young.

This is us now!!
Have a fun day of celebrating... and enjoy your vacation in a few days!
I love you.
