Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you are not sure how it happened to you?? I find myself in this situation when it comes to guys. Sometimes I just stand there and ask myself, " did that really just happen?" Or what I am really thinking is, "Did that really just happen to me???"
What triggered this blog post you may be asking yourself... well let me tell you.
Around 3 weeks ago a guy we will call "Derick" started asking when we would hang out. He was clearly suddenly single- I asked, and of course I was correct. I was flattered that he wanted to hang out but he already had 2 strikes against him from a few months ago and I knew for a fact that I did not like him. I told him that I was extremely busy and had no time to hang out with him. Strangly this did not stop him. He kept asking me to hang out and finally to get him out of my hair I told him we could hang out. He then asks me to help him study for a test. What the?? Since I was only doing this as a means to an end I agreed to help him study. Also- I happen to be a fabulous study buddy.
Day of the Study Hang Out:
7:30am: The following text message conversation takes place,
(D)"Are we still on for tonight?"
(A) "Yes"
(D) "I should warn you I am a bad group studier. So we should plan on doing something else too."
***Then why on earth did you ask me to help you study?
(A) "Why don't you bring a game then?"
(D) "I'm just really bad at planning stuff"
***I am pretty sure I just told you what to do-- not a lot of planning needed to choose a game.
5:15pm
(A) "Are you coming straight from work?"
(D) "Yes"
(A) "Alright- I will have some dinner for you"
(D) "That would be great- thanks"
5:30pm
Phone call
(D) "Can you give me directions to your apartment?"
(A) "Directions given"
5:35pm
Buzz into apartment building {Yes- just like in Seinfeld}
5:36pm
Arrives at my door without any books or games.
5:36pm
(D) "I have some good and bad news. Do you like sushi? Because it is my moms birthday and it is her birthday dinner and I can't stay. Do you want to go?"
(A) "Thanks for the offer but no I already ate."
(D) "Oh okay, well sorry I feel bad. "[No- he doesn't.]
(A) "No really do not feel bad."
(D) "Okay so then can I use your bathroom?"
(A) "Sure."
5:39pm
Departs my apartment and promises we will hang out soon.
5:40pm
I am sitting on the couch asking myself if that really just happened.
Yep. It did. And the toilet seat was left up.
